Back Pain

Back pain is very common being experienced by most adults at some point in their lives. Back Pain develops from various causes, including accidents, sports injuries, and strains from everyday activities.

Back pain may be aching, burning, sharp, tingling, stabbing or dull. Whether you suffer pain due to an accident, existing genetic condition, general daily life, increasing age or from a work-related injury, we may be able to help relieve your discomfort.

We provide treatment and where necessary rehabilitation. Information regarding modifying your lifestyle will be provided and when appropriate, we introduce exercises to improve strength, endurance and stability. We also work on improving your balance and your sense of joint position (proprioception). This will help you to return to a normal functional state and reduce the risk of new injuries.

Neck Pain

Neck pain can be caused by poorly functioning joints, trauma, poor posture, repetitive tasks at work, degenerative diseases and muscle strains and injuries. So it is not surprising that chiropractors treat a variety of causes of neck pain.

Neck pain can spread quickly and manifest itself as headaches, restricted movement and stiffness in shoulders, arms and forearms. For some it is the source of pain in our backs, shoulders and arms.

Precision Chiropractic can help treat your neck pain by the use of gentle techniques including muscle releases, chiropractic activator assisted adjusting and employs muscle testing as a diagnostic tool. Treatment can help improve the range of movement in your neck to reduce and resolve neck pain.

Headaches

Headaches frequently occur in patients and the some have causes which may be helped with chiropractic treament. Our goal is to help correct any musculoskeletal (muscles and bones) dysfunction causing headaches including migraine, TMJ headache and tension headache.

We may be able to help you achieve relief from your headaches. Some of our gentle but highly effective treatment methods include trigger point therapy, active trigger point release and mobilisation techniques performed within the passive range of joint motion.

Muscle Pain

Soreness in the muscles can often be caused by sporting or repetitive activities. There are over 600 muscles in the human body and skeletal muscles account on average between 30-55% of your body weight. So, it is not surprising that muscles are often a source of pain for many of us. The good news is that many types of muscle related problems respond very well to chiropractic treatment and can be managed with appropriate advice.

At Precision Chiropractic and Integral Health, we identify and treat biomechanical dysfunctions, which can lead to myofascial trigger points and spasm to develop causing pain and stiffness. Instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, therapeutic massage and activator adjusting may all help to alleviate your pain, assist recovery and improve flexibility.

Through providing precise chiropractic treatment, our goal is to reduce your pain, re-establish normal movement and optimise your potential.

Joint Pain

When your joints are not functioning properly it can lead to tightening or overstretching of muscles and can irritate local tissues and nerves. Even normal wear and ageing of your joints can cause mild to severe pain.

We are able to assist by addressing possible underlying causes of joint dysfunction and restoring a more normal range of motion in the affected region of your body. Through a combination of treatments and therapies we can assist resolving the biomechanical problems causing compensatory soft tissue reactions and joint pain. Our treatment sessions aim to allow your joints, muscles and ligaments to function at their optimum levels.

Arthritis

Chiropractic treatment for arthritis addresses the practical issue of freeing up your body and allowing you to regain movement. Chiropractic treatment may help reduce and manage the symptoms of arthritis.

We aim to ease the stiffness in your joints resulting from immobility and lack of use. We may be able to reduce pain by helping to relax tight muscles and improving joint function and mobility.

We help treat arthritis by correcting joint alignment and using gentle movements to keep joints mobile. This in turn improves the movement of synovial fluid around the cartilage inside joints. We aim to restore movement and increase strength in muscles in all affected areas.

Sciatica

Sciatica is another common condition patients come in for treatment. Sciatica was termed as pain involving the sciatic nerve.  However over time it has become incorrectly used and is now synonymous with any type of leg pain.

Patients coming to our clinic commonly indicate that their pain is going down their leg. However some patients point to their back and or hip. This is also very common.  It must me said that many low back, hip and pelvic musculoskeletal problems can cause pain, weakness, tingling or numbness in the low back, hips and legs.

Some of the many causes include a compromised sciatic nerve, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, piriformis muscle syndrome, facet joint dysfunction or any combination of the four. The symptoms of these conditions can be misdiagnosed and sometimes inaccurately linked to a slipped disc.

After examination and a discussion with our patients we address any misalignments of the spine and pelvis through careful and precise Chiropractic adjustments. Muscular tension, spasm and trigger points are also treated. This may alleviate the irritation of the affected areas and help speed up the recovery of time.

Whiplash

Whiplash refers to neck pain or discomfort caused by a sudden movement of the head, backward, forward, or sideways. Whether from a car accident, sports injury or an accident at work, whiplash or neck injuries warrant a thorough examination from a chiropractor.

Symptoms can include neck pain, headaches, shoulder or arm pain. Patients may also suffer from blurred vision, dizziness, lower back pain, stiffness, vertigo, difficulty swallowing, numbness, tingling, nausea, jaw pain, irritability, fatigue, ringing in the ears and pain in arms, legs, feet or hands.

We use specific, gentle adjustments aimed to help restore normal spinal functions. We also provide stretches and exercises to further help you recover.

Knee Pain

Knee pain and knee injuries are extremely common and there are many causes. The knee needs to be correctly alignment to function properly and to provide stable mobility while bearing considerable stress. Accidents, injuries and everyday activity can affect the alignment of the knee.

We modify the treatment to suit each patient and their specific conditions. So the type of treatment that is most appropriate for one person is not necessarily right for another. Treatment will aim at reducing joint inflammation and pain, normalizing joint function and may include a rehabilitating exercise program.

Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)

RSI develops when our body’s balance is upset either from increased use or impaired healing. This leads to a dysfunction of the soft tissues in the affected area caused by mechanical irritation, leading to inflammation. Repeated physical movements, such as typing, can cause damage to tendons, nerves, muscles and ligaments.

RSI may present as tightness, discomfort, stiffness or pain. You may also experience tingling, coldness or numbness. There may also be an associated clumsiness, loss of hand strength and co-ordination.

Chiropractic adjustments, instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy, manual joint stretching and therapeutic massage may help to alleviate your pain and lead to better flexibility. Our goal is to restore normal movement and improve your quality of life.

Sports Injuries

Injury is an unfortunate commonplace occurrence for many people who take part in sports or recreational activity. Exercising improperly, such as increasing the duration or intensity of your workout by too much or too soon, and random chance events occurring whilst playing sports may lead to injury.

The treatment plan for sporting injuries includes a thorough bio-mechanical evaluation of the injured area whether it be the spine, neck, pelvis, knee, ankle, foot, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist, jaw or ribs and other joints and muscles surrounding the area.

Whatever the severity of your injury, you may receive a combination of take home advice and treatment such as recommendations of rest, ice and or heat application, Chiropractic adjustments to all dysfunctional or misaligned joints, deep tissue muscle / fascial therapy and active trigger point release. Therapeutic exercises may also be recommended which may help improve the range of motion of your body, speed up recovery times and prevent your injury from stopping you live the life you want to live.

Expectant Mothers

Many expectant mothers report having back pain at some point during pregnancy, with the sacroiliac joints of the pelvis being most commonly affected.

This can be caused by the shifting of the centre of gravity caused by the enlarging uterus, increased joint laxity due to the natural release of hormones such as relaxin.

Chiropractic treatment through your pregnancy may encourage a more comfortable pregnancy by reducing aches and pains coming from musculoskeletal dysfunction.

Having your spine and pelvis checked by a chiropractor may help your bodies biomechanical balance during your pregnancy and birth of your baby.

Children

With two beautiful daughters of his own, it is no wonder Darren has an interest in treating children. Chiropractic adjustments may help a child’s physical health and therefore overall wellbeing. Chiropractors aim to correct and minimize structural restrictions or imbalances during their crucial years of growth and development. Chiropractic care for children does not have to include Chiropractic adjustments. We can treat children using muscle release, mobilization, stretches, exercises and postural training and advice.

Seniors

Many of our patients are seniors and enjoy the health benefits of chiropractic care. Whether it is to improve movement, relieve arthritic pain or to simply keep up with their grand children, seniors appreciate the difference our chiropractic treatment can make to their daily lives.

4 key reasons why seniors visit us regularly:

  1. Relief from pain
  2. Improve coordination and balance
  3. Improve range of movement
  4. Improve flexibility

Computer Related Pain

Poor posture can the result of an existing muscle imbalance, pain or bad habits. Sitting or standing for long periods of time at work can contribute to spinal and pelvic imbalance and dysfunction which may cause pain and discomfort.

Being seated puts more pressure on the discs in your lower back compared to standing. It can also tighten muscles in the lower back, hips, neck, arms and legs. It is important to move regularly to help remove the build up of lactic acid in the muscles.

Poor posture such as slumping can also lead to problems including headaches, neck, jaw and shoulder pain, numbness or tingling or pain between the shoulder blades.

Over long periods of time, poor posture and bad ergonomics at work can affect the functional biomechanics of you neck, back, pelvis and hips and can lead to recurring pain. We are always happy to help you access your posture and work ergonomics as part of our chiropractic health care. We offer postural advice, manual treatment (chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue therapy) and rehabilitation exercises and stretches to help you restore and maintain a flexible, strong and pain-free posture.
